Agent memory is a product decision

Series: Building agents that last — part 1

Memory is the product

Users experience an agent through what it remembers. A buyer agent that forgets the price band from last session is not a technical bug; it is a broken product promise. That is why memory decisions on RepReady are made by the product team with the engineering team in the room.

Write-path discipline

The model decides what to say; the system decides what to remember. Gating memory writes in the orchestration loop (the decision block in the Mimir case study) is what keeps personas stable across sessions.

The honest numbers

Mimir reports 81% recall at 200 sessions on its probe set — with the method attached, so you can judge the number yourself. Memory systems that do not publish their recall methodology are marketing.
